Ottey waiting for high-major programs

As programs scour the country in search of point guard help, three-star Marcus Ottey should be a name that we start to hear come up more often.
A wildly athletic and tough 6-footer from Canada who plays at the Geneva (Ohio) Spire Academy, Ottey is putting together a tremendous senior season.

Ottey took official visits to Valparaiso and Illinois-Chicago during the fall and also has offers from Toledo, New Mexico State and Detroit. More interest is coming, though, as programs such as California, Missouri, Utah, San Diego and many others have made inquiries.
IN HIS OWN WORDS
"I get to the rim and I get my teammates involved. I think that I'm a leader but I want to keep working on other areas of my game. I'm focusing on my ball-handling and my shooting and you can always get better at defense."
On visits: "I took official visits to Valpo and UIC. They were cool and I could see myself at either place. I want to see if I can get some high majors to offer and then see about my other three visits."
WHAT'S NEXT?
Now, Ottey is in the holding pattern, typical for many seniors who choose to sign. He knows that he has mid-major offers, but high majors are sniffing around and he wants to see if he can land some of those offers.
RIVALS' REACTION
Ottey is a really intriguing guy and probably falls right on the mid- to high-major borderline as a prospect. He could make a more immediate impact at a place like UIC or Valpo and he could possibly develop into a high-level mid-major player. Athletically, he can easily compete at the high-major level and he exudes toughness.
