Four-star Nwora on the rise

One of the biggest risers from the class of 2017 this spring has been four-star forward Jordan Nwora, who will do a prep year at Vermont Academy.

A bit unheralded on the national scene before hitting Nike's EYBL with the New York Rens, Nwora entered the spring with USC and South Florida as the two high-major programs all over him.

Now that the rest of the country has gotten to see his pure jump shooting and crafty inside/out game, the offers have started pouring in. Georgia Tech, Memphis, VCU, Temple, Florida, Florida State, Marquette, Xavier, Connecticut, Oklahoma State, DePaul, Rutgers, Seton Hall, Auburn and many others have extended scholarship offers. Nwora is ranked No. 99 in the Rivals150.

"I think I've gotten a lot better. But it's also exposure and timing and I'm in a situation with the Rens where I've surrounded myself with really good players. Not only do they look good but they help make me look good and I try to do the same for them.

"People are recruiting me as a three and stretch four. I feel like I can get to the rim when I need to and I can play defense on the wing. I've been defending a lot bigs so that's a little different, I don't practice that so playing defense there is a new thing. Our team is mostly smaller guys and wings so I need to help on the bigs.

"I think I'm going to take it all in and start narrowing it down sometime after the summer. After the summer I'll sit down with my dad and some of my coaches and figure out my next step."

Heading into this spring, not many programs or scouting services had gotten a great look at Nwora. Based on our previous viewings of him, Rivals.com saw him as more of a stretch four man.

With his play on the floor, Nwora has proven that he can legitimately play out on the wing and his 6-foot-7 size and sturdy frame also allow him to play as a stretch four man. He's crafty, his skill level is high and he has a terrific motor. Watching him play, it's not surprising to learn that he's the son of a college coach as his father is the head coach at Erie Community College.

Nwora told Rivals.com that he took and enjoyed an April unofficial visit to Seton Hall. In June he's hoping to make it out to USC for an unofficial visit but other than that he's got nothing on the books.

For now, the plan is to play out the summer and see what other interest he can attract. From there he'll look to see who fits best and set up his official visits.
