Alpha Diallo taking his time

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – Senior small forward Alpha Diallo is one of 12 players still uncommitted in the Rivals150. We caught up with him at the Hoophall Classic after he finished with 21 points in the Vermont Academy, N.H., win over fellow four-star Bruce Brown and Brewster Academy, N.H. 94-87.

There were two schools on hand to watch Diallo in action this past weekend, South Carolina and Providence. He has not visited either school, but plans to after the season. The other three schools showing heavy interest are Miami, Florida and VCU. The only school he’s visited is VCU.

IN HIS OWN WORDS

On VCU: “I really had a good visit at VCU. I loved the coaches and campus. I’m looking forward to see how the other schools compare to them.”

On what he's looking for in the right school: “Early playing time is important and just being comfortable with the guys on the team. I’m just looking for an all-around good fit for me.”

WHAT’S NEXT

The four-star small forward has four other visits he wants to take and doesn’t have anything set up yet. From the looks of it, he wants to get down to visit Florida and Miami after the season. Diallo is in no rush to make a decision. He says he doesn’t have a leader and all the schools are on an even playing field. When asked what schools were on his list he only named Providence, South Carolina, VCU, Florida and Miami so one could assume those are his top five schools.

RIVALS' REACTION

This recruitment seems to be going the distance. Diallo is not waiting on any dream offers and is focused on finishing up his high school season. Whatever program ends up with him is getting a versatile player who stays patient throughout the game and can knock down shots when it matters.
