Nebraska, K-State pursue Jackson

Overland Park (KS) Blue Valley Northwest shooting guard Darien Jackson has been a busy man lately. Over the past few weekends, the three-star has taken trips to Creighton, Nebraska and most recently Kansas State all while leading his high school team to a 10-3 record. At the moment, the 6-foot-1, 170-pounder holds offers from Kansas State, Illinois State, Tulsa and UTEP and has interest from Creighton, Nebraska, Kansas, Iowa and Wichita State.

IN HIS OWN WORDS: Jackson discussed his recent visits and told us what stands out about some of the programs recruiting him.

Kansas State: “I like them. They are young and they fit my style of play. I love the coaching staff. They are really friendly.”

Tulsa: “I haven’t really watched them, but I talk to Coach [Kim] English all the time. He’s from my area.”

Creighton: “I liked it. It was fun when I went up there. I went up there for a practice and really liked it.”

Nebraska: “I went to one of their games. It was fun. They have a nice program. It’s a lot like Kansas State. They have really cool players.”

WHAT’S NEXT?: Look for Jackson to play out his junior season of high school ball and his last season with KC Run GMC before moving closer to making a decision. It seems likely that he’ll commit to a school before his senior season starts.

RIVALS’ REACTION: Kansas State and Nebraska seem to have the edge right now in his recruitment. Creighton and Tulsa appear to be heavily in the mix. As with most kids from Kansas, an offer from the Jayhawks could be a game-changer.
